The Millennial Monologues: An Introduction

Young women today have a lot more freedom than our "founding sisters", if you will, but there are still many many topics in our society that are gendered and otherwise taboo for us girls to talk about. Yes, we can vote (thank god for the 19th Amendment). Yes, we can get divorced and are not otherwise seen as property (read "more or less"). Yes, we can like buy a house and a car and a dog by ourselves (if you get lucky and get the dolla dolla bills for that). BUT we can't talk about all the other things that matter too. And so much of that has frustrated me for a really long time.

Millennial women--as defined by being born from 1981-1997--are living in a very interesting time period. We all have this "perceived freedom," but we still operate as a society under the tutelage and demand of men from another bygone era (typically men of the Baby Boomer or Generation X eras). And guess what?

THEY DON'T GET US.

They don't understand us as millennials. And they don't understand us as women.

But us millennial women, we understand each other. And I think it's super important for us to create a community where we hash out our issues, our questions, our fears and worries, and our victories.

The Millennial Monologues is a place where like-minded women can talk about the things that drives us absolutely bonkers about the world we live in!

The Millennial Monologues created itself at a late-night grill out with me and two other friends. We were having a little "girl talk" about dating and work and life, and I had my AHA! moment.

Women, let's talk about it. Let's talk about the no-no's we hate, the what-if's that keep us up at night, the who-cares that keep us going, and the let's-do that let us all stick together.

Sit down. Grab a beverage (alcoholic content preferred). And enjoy.
